Saoirse C Benson
Saoirse studied Immunology at Trinity College Dublin in Ireland for her Honours undergraduate degree. After completing her degree, she moved to Sydney to carry out a research project in UNSW as part of the Lymphocyte Signalling Group, EMBL Australia Node in Single Molecule Science. In 2018, she moved to Adelaide to join Prof. David Lynn’s group as a Research Assistant at SAHMRI where she was involved in investigating the interplay between the microbiota and the immune system in several different contexts. Saoirse has now commenced her second year as a PhD Candidate with Flinders university under the supervisor of Prof. David Lynn in SAHMRI. Her project aims to characterise the mechanisms by which antibiotic exposure in early life modulates immune responses to vaccination. Saoirse is the communications officer for the SAHMRI student committee and a member of the logistics team for the EMBL Australia Student Symposium.
